Rummy was invented in the early 90’s and since, it’s become one of the most played and enjoyed gambling games of all time. There are two forms of the game played; one with all jokers and one with the opposite jokers. Opposite joker play is more popular and it’s played with double packs of cards without any extra cards. Ideally a group of 6 players would join the game. Each player gets 13 cards. Before dealing, however, each player gets a card to find the highest and lowest position. Whoever is in the highest position, based on their card, takes the first hand to face the game. The lowest position deals the cards. The second lowest position cuts the joker.
To play a good rummy game, you need to know the terms and techniques of the game. The objective of the rounds are to complete a set, or run. You want to get as many points as you can because whoever’s scored highest is the winner. A set is a term meaning when you have 3 or 4 cards with the same ranks, such s an 8 of spades, 8 of clubs and 8 of diamonds, or a 5 of hearts, 5 of diamonds, 5 of spades and 5 of clubs. Run is a term that means you have 3 or more cards in the same suit and in correct order. Runs are also called sequences. An abrupt end to a round is called a “knock”. If you have 2 sets or a combination of a set and a run, the you can knock. Your unmatched cards should be below 10 points when you knock.
